Designed by the Philadelphia firm of Yarnall & Goforth, Oakdene features outstanding craftmanship and fine materials ? notably a limestone foundation, pressed brick, patterned shingles, painted stone, half-timbered stucco, and a three story turret topped by a sentry owl with illuminated eyes. The interior retains exceptional Gothic Revival details with pointed arches, natural oak woodwork, elaborately detailed mantels and trim, curved walls, and an abundance of distinctive windows and sunrooms that provide variety and richness in a bright setting.
